What is the difference between the .YT ccTLDs and .com, .net, .org, etc.?

The letters preceded by a period at the end of a domain name indicate the namespace. There are two types of namespace: generic spaces (GLD) created when the Internet was first invented, the best known being .com, .net and .org, and geographical areas, so called because they represent a country, such as .fr (France and overseas departments), .YT (Mayotte).
