Are there any technical constraints to consider when choosing a domain name ?

On the technical side, an .fr or .re domain name must include at least three and at most 63 characters, chosen from the letters A to Z and the numbers 0 to 9. It is possible to use the hyphen (or em dash) but not spaces, apostrophes, or en dashes (underscore), etc. .

Since 3 May 2012, it is possible to register IDN domain names under all the TLDs operated by Afnic.
